We took the RV to La Mesa RV and got the ice maker fixed and then had to go back for the electrical. They had sent the wrong part! But, knock on wood, we finally have everything fixed and are ready to get on the road!
We spent our valentines with our friends Jim and Della. They came over for dinner...beef stroganoff...and cards. We had a fun evening and discussed our upcoming trips to Death Valley and sites east!
Sophie finished her six weeks of beginner training class last Saturday. It was a good lesson for me as well. As the proud parents, we think she did pretty well. Unfortunately she's still skittish, but her teacher gave me some ideas of things to help with that too! She's becoming "pet trained" opposed to "show trained" and doing pretty well. Sophie and I both loved her teacher! She brought one of her own dogs in and the dog was so well behaved!
Sophie is still cute (even with her bad haircut)!
Our friend Peggy Price had a birthday on February 21st and we had the pleasure of taking her out to dinner. We tried a new Italian place and had a good dinner and good time!
On February 22nd, Trent had baseball in Poway. Sophie had her class so we missed the first game. Turns out, we are glad we did. Trent was playing in the outfield and a ball came between he and another outfielder and they didn't call the ball and collided on the field. Trent's left shoulder (NOT his pitching shoulder) collided with another player's head. Trent's dad, Tony, took him to the injury clinic and they took an x-ray but thought it sprained. It ended up being fractured so he's on the DL for a total of six weeks. The other boy stayed in the game, a decision by his dad, but ended up having a concussion and was on the DL for a week. A little later in the game their 1st baseman had a tachycardia and was hauled off to emergency. He's got to see a cardiologist but has been back to practice. It was a rough game! We all stayed for the last game and came back on Sunday and his team came in first place. They had to call in a few players to replace the three that were out!
On Monday we had dinner with classmates of Ted's, Steve Dunn and his wife Kathe and Larry Wallis and his wife Carol. We went to Red Lobster and had the yummy cheese garlic biscuits...oh yeah and actually had dinner too! Had a good visit with them.
On Tuesday Jeri and I had pedi's and lunch. Needed to get my toes ready for our trip to Death Valley! We had a good lunch at Soup Plantation after a relaxing pedicure! Ted had lunch with her husband Stach at Boll Weevil's in Clairemont!
Wednesday night we had Jan Mellinger over for dinner at our house. Ted met her in his Bonita horse days! She came over for pizza, to meet Sophie and see our RV! We had a good visit with Jan.
Thursday we were invited to Jim and Della' Crownover's for dinner. Also classmates of Ted's! Another classmate Dottie Stamper was also there. We had not seen Dottie for awhile and had a good visit as well as Jim's good ribs! I made a Dump Cake and it turned out good...whew!
Friday Jeri and I went out to Viejas to the outlet mall...in the rain! We got a few things and were headed back to the car when it started pouring and the wind-a-blowin! It didn't dampen our spirits however and we were able to go over to the casino for some gambling! Ted had lunch with a former co-worker, ran some errands and then picked up her husband and brought him to Viejas so we could all have dinner together. Sophie spent the day at Camp-Run-A-Mutt and played herself out! She was a tired puppie!
On Saturday after Sophie's class, Jeri's sister Meg came over to see Sophie and check out our RV. From there we went to Filippe's Pizza Parlor in Jamul! Jeri and Stach brought her over so we had a good group for dinner.
On Sunday we had brunch with Peggy at Claimjumper. They have a good brunch and we were all stuffed!
Today was haircuts for both, and lots of little errands before heading out tomorrow! We will spend tomorrow night at our Thousand Trails campground, Wilderness Lakes in Menifee. On Wednesday we will head out to Yermo east of Barstow meeting Jim and Della and spending the night there. On Thursday we will go into Death Valley to meet friends at the Furnace Creek Campground. This is a fun yearly event with a great group of people!
From there we will continue on with Jim and Della. We will visit the south rim of the Grand Canyon, and Valley De Chelley in Arizona and Monument Valley and Moab in Utah. Jim and Della will head home on April 1st and we will slowly head back to Las Vegas on April 10th. Trent is supposed to have a baseball game the weekend of the 12th and 13th in Vegas and we are hoping he will be able to pitch by then!
Lots and lots of good food and great friends..."Ain't Life Grand!"
