Wednesday we took a drive around Hurricane and St. George. I took some pictures of the area east of St. George.
Yesterday we drove to Cedar Breaks. On the way to see the monument, we got into higher elevations (and wonderfully cooler temperatures) and saw the following scenery:
The elevation at the Cedar breaks Monument is 10,350 feet. The temperatures had been in the mid 90's and was 61 degrees up there! The monument is called a giant amphitheater and is colored by iron and manganese oxides. The limestone formation is made up of intricate ridges, pinnacles and buttresses. They get a lot of snow in the winter! The rock formations are so beautiful and so large that my camera doesn't do them justice!
After we left the Monument we drove down the hill by Brian Head and at 9500 feet it is a resort ski area. The scenery changes, but is always beautiful!
Last night we had dinner with a group of people from the campground. We drove into Hurricane and went to Ted and Allen's. It's a sports bar with lots of big screen tvs. We met some new people and had a good dinner!
Spending the day in cool temperatures..."Ain't Life Grand!"
