Puerto Vallarta and Family!

Ted graduated from Sweetwater High School in National City, California 50 years ago!  As a pre-reunion celebration a group of us decided to spend a few days at the Riu Hotel in Puerto Vallarta!  There were 23 in our group and we had a ball!

The hotel was beautiful and right on the ocean.  Ted and I were on the 5th floor and had a room with a view!

The hotel is all inclusive so you eat, drink and be merry!    The food was delicious and plentiful!  We enjoyed the pool, good entertainment and just being with good friends!  Bravely Della and Neddy went parasailing right from the hotel beach!  Several ladies went to “Swim with the Dolphins” and had a great time.  Several people went to town.  Ted and I had a “couples massage” one day that was lovely and mostly used the time to relax!

Joette had t-shirts made up with the cutest logo on it and we all celebrated with our new t-shirts!

And then there was the “Murder in Margaritaland”!  Yes we all participated in a murder mystery!  Della and Jim Crownover did a lot of work to make this happen and it was such fun!  I was Coconut Jane, part owner of Margaritaland and Ted was a wealthy guest!

We had quite a cast of characters but Billy Whited as Jack Daniels was the bartender and ended up being murdered.  He performed his death scene very well!  He was murdered by the drunken lifeguard, which was performed by Bill, friend of Sharon Gillam!  We all had lot of laughs and in the end Ted and Ron Kusnose guessed the murderer!  They each won $60!

It was a great week and we were sad to say goodbye to Puerto Vallarta, but we had a cute plane to ride home in and family to look forward to!

Sophie spent the six days at Camp-Run-A-Mutt and boy was she pooped!  She walked around all day long each day except for an hour or two of crate time and she was worn out!   We were able to pick her up on the night of the 14th at about 9:30 pm.  She was already asleep and pretty groggy!   She fell asleep in the car immediately and was snoring in seconds.   We left for Fresno on Thursday the 15th and she slept all the way and I think it was three or four days before she was really awake!

Friday morning at 8:00 was Stephen’s graduation from Fresno State.  He is the youngest nephew and now all three have made it through college and received their Bachelor’s Degrees!  After the ceremony and some picture taking, Craig and Claire had arranged lunch at a private club.  There were about 12 of us and it was very special.  It was also Stephen’s birthday so it was a double celebration!

Friday evening was another big event.  At 6:00 pm Claire would find out if she passed the bar or not!  We were all waiting on pins and needles and YAY SHE PASSED!  It was quite exciting and we went to dinner with Claire’s Mom and Dad, our nephews and several of their friends.  The partner at Craig’s law firm that performed the marriage ceremony for Claire and his wife came along with another partner from Craig’s firm!  It was quite a party weekend!

Claire's law firm wanted Claire sworn in as soon as possible.  Her dad, Ernie, arranged a private swearing in at the Federal Courthouse in the Chambers of the Judge Magistrate, a friend of his since high school!  It was a special moment and we were honored to be invited to attend!

The Judge's office is on the 9th floor and she has quite a view!

Since then we have been having meals with kids, dinner with Ernie and Linda (Claire’s mom and dad), lunch with Linda, lunch with a friend of Ted’s who happens to be housesitting up in Coarsegold and a little casino time for Susan one day! Ernie and Linda brought another couple of to meet us and to talk about full-time RVing!  They are retiring soon and think they may want to take the plunge!

Tonight is going to be a special, Craig was selected as Central Unified’s Outstanding Alumnus of 2014.  They have asked him to a few words since his story is a great one of overcoming obstacles, choosing the right path and giving back to the community.  We will all be in attendance (with tissues).

Stephen's actual graduation party is Saturday night soooo....more to follow!
