Enjoying our Week at Wilderness Lakes!

We've had a fun time up here at Wilderness (except for when I was trying to figure out the new computer)!  On Wednesday we had lunch with Rusty Coole, a former classmate of Ted's.  It's always fun to catch up with Rusty and see what he's doing these days!

On Thursday we had a lazy day around the RV.  I got our laundry all caught up and tried to figure out how to get my photos to automatically load to the cloud!  Nope, couldn't do it!  I'm going to have to go see a Geek for help!  I tried for a couple of hours to no avail!

On Friday we went to see Oblivion, a sci-fi movie with Tom Cruise and and Morgan Freeman.  The movie was interesting and by the end we had it pretty well figured out!  We thought it was good.  After the movie and some lunch we headed back to Escondido to the Farm Stand that Rusty works at.  We chatted with him, bought some oranges and headed back to the campground, with a stop in Rainbow to visit our friend Sally!  Ted rode horses a few years back (LOL like maybe in the 80's).  She retired from  training people to ride hunter/jumpers (I have no idea what I'm even talking about) and has herself a cute little ranch.  She still has a couple of horses, a cool dog, some chickens (in the clucking ham palace) and a lot of flowers, fruits and vegetables.  She's having a lot of fun with her property and it was fun to see her progress!

Saturday was baseball day.  We met Jeri and Stach at Pechanga for lunch (and of course a little casino time).  Ted and I both had a good day.  He ended up $30 ahead and I was $20 ahead!  Anytime you leave with more than you came with is a good day at the casino and a fun time!

We left there and headed up to Perris to the Sports Complex to watch Trent play baseball!  He was playing on his traveling team, "The Show".  Trent is now 12 years old and his voice has gotten a LOT deeper!  I think he grows an inch or two every time we don't see him for a while!  Trent didn't play the first game but it was a really good game and we won 4-0 with the starting pitcher pitching all 6 innings.  Trent was the starting pitcher of the second game.  His team was having a little problem with errors and it was 1-1 in the first inning, 2-2 in the second inning, 3-3 in the third inning and 4-4 in the fourth inning!  They scored no runs in the fifth inning and we scored 2 so now we were ahead and then in the sixth we scored another run and they won 7-4!  Trent pitched all six innings!  It was a great game!

Todays game wasn't until 2:45 and the Show lost.  The first inning was 0-0 but in the second inning they got 1 run, in the third inning they got 4 more runs.  We finally got our defense and pitching together and came back and scored 3 runs but ran out of innings to catch up!  It was good to see them battle back.

I did manage to take a couple of pictures off the Suhi blog and save them to the computer so here are a couple of pictures taken at the Beach Party we went to on April 13th.  Joette is the one who rented the cottage at the beach and is crazy enough to invite a big group of her high school classmates, horse friends and family to the cottage.

I'm posing with Carol and Joette!

I'll keep trying to learn how to get my pictures downloaded!  We head back down to Pio Pico on Tuesday!

Buying a Motor Home?????

As previously posted, we have been looking at motor homes.  We love our fifth wheel and our truck but have decided it's time to make the switch!  On Monday we test drove a 40 foot Phaeton Motor Home and decided we were ready to order a brand new one!  This will probably be our last RV and since it is also our home decided to get what we want in the way of decor and options!  Believe it or not, they are already making the 2014 model!  We will get it some time in mid to late June!  We are really excited.  Yesterday we went over to pick out the interior colors and just sat in a similar model to the one we are purchasing for half an hour just looking at it and trying to figure out where we will put everything!

Yesterday was a busy day.  We were at Trent's baseball game at 9:00.  It was a really good game and his team won!  It was close right down to the last inning!  He got a solid double and pitched two great innings to close out the game.

After the game we went to La Mesa RV and then headed home to get cleaned up for the Bonita Women's Club Chocolate Decadence!  Our friend Della is a member and so we thought it would be good to go and support her! They had a great turn out and we ran into friends John and Harriet that we used to go on wine tasting weekend trips with.  They hadn't changed a bit and seemed to be doing great!  We are planning a dinner with them in June.  They had cheese, chocolate and wine for tasting.  They had a raffle of some nice donated items but we were not winners.  Probably just as well, we don't need anything else to pack up!  It was over at 5:00 so we went and had dinner with Jim and Della.  We went to an Italian Restaurant in downtown Chula Vista that was pretty good!  It was good to visit with them.

When you have a motor home, you need a tow dinghy.  We also went car shopping this week and bought a 2011 Ford Fusion.  It was a nice clean, tight car that we could get in and out of easily!  No frills but we will get good gas mileage compared to the truck!  Everything seems to be falling into place on the motor home purchase!  Will post some pictures when we get the car and the motor home.  We will probably get the car on Monday.

On Tuesday we will go up to Menifee for a week to our Wilderness Lakes campground.  We will be back to Pio Pico on April 30th.

Beach Parties in April!

We have had a busy week in San Diego!  On Monday Trent's game was at 5:00.  The weather had changed dramatically on Monday and it was really cold!  When we were in Tennessee I had gotten some flannel lined jeans and with a couple of layers on top I was toasty warm!  The game turned out not so good.  Trent didn't have a very good game but he did get two nice hits.  He didn't pitch until the end and his team was already behind.  His team made quite a few errors.  Between the cold and the game we were happy when it was done!

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were filled with miscellaneous appointments such as doctors, relocating the electrical plug in the back of the truck to connect the fifth wheel, hair and more!

On Tuesday we also stopped by La Mesa RV and looked at motor homes.  When we got the fifth wheel and original F550 truck we had a 7 to 10 year plan to switch to a motor home.  There are pros and cons to both!  As we get a bit older, the motor home is easier to set up and tear down but you lose inside storage space.  We have been doing some research and are thinking the timing may be good to jump in now since our truck and RV are worth more now and interest rates are still pretty low.  We have a few motorhomes in mind and actually saw one of them the other day that we liked!  Still doing some homework!

On Friday we went back to La Mesa RV to ask a few questions!  We are going back on Monday to see a couple of other motorhomes.  Will keep you posted!

We left the RV place and went to Trent's Jr. High School baseball game.  Trent's pitching coach has changed his leg kick and he pitched two really good innings before getting tired in the third inning.  Also it is 8 yards longer at this field from the pitching mound to the plate!  He walked several times and scored runs.  Score was back and forth but his team went on to win in the 7th inning!  Both teams had a really bad inning where they were throwing the ball everywhere except for where it was supposed to be thrown! It was still a fun game, probably because they won!  After the game we went to dinner with his Nana and Papa!  Had a good dinner and conversation.

Today Joette, one of Ted's high school classmates, came in to town from Idaho.  She rented a cottage down at Mission Bay for the weekend.  The weather didn't really cooperate (chilly and cloudy) but she had a really great turnout of classmates, horse friends and family and friends!  It was a potluck and everyone brought delicious food so we sat out in front of the cottage and talked and ate all afternoon!  Della's bean salad was really delicious and my California Vegetable Salsa (Elaine Williams recipe) was a big hit!  Some of the younger crowd walked the block to the Mission Bay beach to hang out.  We rode over with Jim and Della in their little car.  I don't think we would have had an easy time finding a place to park the truck!

Haven't been taking any pictures and haven't put any pictures on from my phone yet.  Will probably get everything set up with the phone and the cloud while we are up in Hemet for the week starting on the 23rd!  Time just goes by too fast!

When we left today the Kiwanis were having a hot rod show, craft fair and chili cook off here at the campground!  We missed out the fun but when we got back home I did go up and get the slow cooked ribs special that the cafe offered.  I was too full from eating all afternoon so have saved it for tomorrow night!  Yummy...

Still learning to use the new Mac!

We are getting used to the new computer but I still haven't been able to play with pictures yet!  Probably will do that when we get out of Pio Pico and up to Wilderness Lakes where we have cell service and I can see how the Cloud works from my phone to the computer!

Saturday we met our friends Jeri and Stach at Sycuan Casino for dinner and a little gambling.  I came out about $15 ahead, YAY!   Ted watched basketball and car racing in the sports bar with Stach!  We had a good buffet and spent a lot of time there catching up with them!  The four of us talked nonstop!

Tonight is finally a baseball game for Trent.  Saturday's game was postponed and I have a feeling tonights may be postponed since its drizzling, cold and windy!  Tony sent us a video of a game Trent pitched five innings in from March 28th and we watched that on Saturday.  It was a really good game with good pitching on both sides.  Trent's team won 3-2 and it was fun to watch such an exciting game.  The refs were overheard talking about the quality of players on both teams!

All kinds of things to talk about!

Where do I start?  I guess back in Fresno!

On Friday we met Stephen at his soon to be home and got to see the inside.  We were able to see the counter top, cabinets, flooring and bathrooms up close and personal.  They tell him they have about 10 days more to finish his house.  We are really excited for Stephen and Marissa and the house looks great!

We were lucky to have Easter dinner with all three nephews, Claire and Marissa at Craig and Claire's house.  We picked up dinner at Whole Foods.  We had ham, roasted potatoes, asparagus and asparagus soup.  We brought angel food cake and fresh strawberries.  I have a picture of the the table (before food) and it looked so pretty and they used some of the china we gave them, but I will explain why I haven't posted the picture in this blog later.   We had a lot of laughs and fun with them and their friend Sid!

On Monday we drove from Fresno to our campground Wilderness Lakes in Menifee.  We spent one night there and came down to Pio Pico on Tuesday with a stop at South Coast RV.  We thought we had a problem with our air conditioner fan but it was operator error!  We also had them add an electrical plug in the truck bed.  The one that Ford put in is under the front of the RV and there just isn't enough room for Ted to get his body there to see where he plugs in the lights for the RV!

Wednesday morning Ted had a doctor's appointment and then we went and bought a new computer!  YAY!  We decided to get a Mac this time and Ted picked it up this afternoon after the Geek Squad downloaded everything for us.  We figured we have enough of a learning curve without having to figure out how to get everything switched over!  So that is why there will not be any pictures in this blog!  I need to get my camera stuff downloaded and learn how the cloud works.  It's more difficult because we pay for Internet here but we only pay for the computer and not my phone so those pictures aren't switched over yet.  We have lots of things to learn!

Wednesday night I went to a Wrinkle and Wine party with my friend Peggy.  Her son is selling Nerium and it looks like a really good product.  It's a multi-level marketing product and  just getting off the ground.  The company seems solid and the product before and after pictures are impressive.  They have worked on it for 15 years and were actually working on skin cancer.  The trials did not cure cancer but everyone wanted to stay on it for the wrinkles and other benefits!  It looks like you can make some money selling this...but I'm retired and loving it!

Thursday we took our old laptop computer over to transfer the data and had lunch with our friend Peggy.  We went to O's, formerly Pat and Oscars, formerly Oscars!  Had a good salad and bread sticks!

Ted went to lunch with his friend David today and then stopped and picked up the computer so we are "playing" this afternoon!

A new and much faster computer..."Ain't Life Grand!"
