Last Saturday was a busy day. We had Mallorie's vollyball game in the morning, Trent's baseball game in the afternoon and of course dinner out!
We had a wonderful Easter with our friends Jeri and Stach, their son Tony and Gina his wife, and aforementioned Mallorie and Trent Gutowski! We sat out in Jeri and Stach's yard enjoying the flowers and the rain. Then we were planning a meal at a restaurant for twelve. Gina's family decided not to join us so Tony decided he would barbecue a roast at his house. Man was it delicious. It was nice not being in a noisy restaurant. We had an easter egg hunt for the kids and enjoyed family time!
Ted and I hope our friends and family had a wonderful Easter as well.
Tuesday we left Pio Pico and headed to South Coast RV to have the body work done on our RV. We also heard a loud squealing coming from the bearing that failed last year when we were on our way to Death Valley so they are checking that out as well. We are still at the RV shop getting work done and waiting for the fender to arrive from Indiana. Hopefully we will get out of here today!
Yesterday we went out to breakfast in Chula Vista at the Family House of Pancakes. The restaurant has been in Chula Vista for a long time. They serve breakfast and lunch with a large assortment of pancakes (duh), waffles and crepes! You definitely get a lot of food. For my toast I ordered the biscuit. There were two the size of my palm! I brought one home!
Yesterday afternoon we went to Trent's baseball game. It was really exciting. The first inning they weren't too good on defense or offense but then they got warmed up. It ended up in a 9 to 9 tie after the sixth inning! That was definitely a win-win! They had to make up 4 runs to tie it and then hold them from scoring in the bottom of the 6th! Then one last pizza from Filippi's before we leave town!
Will keep you posted on our exciting "parking lot camping"!

Hanging out in San Diego!
We are still hanging out in San Diego! Tuesday we visited Peggy. She had a cist between her toes that they operated on so we brought her some dinner. She is doing so great! She heals quickly!
Yesterday had a little gambling time and lunch at Barona with our friend Jeri. They now have more penny machines than they used to which is nice. We were up and down and left a deposit but had a good time.
We will have been in our Jamul campground three weeks on Tuesday so we will leave and spend one or two days (and nights) at the South Coast RV getting our RV body work done (from the tire problem) before heading up to Beaumont. From there we will be heading up to Petaluma, near San Francisco!
Enjoying all the beautiful spring flowers around San Diego..."Ain't Life Grand!"

What's up in San Diego!
On Saturday we went to a barbeque at Tony and Gina's house. They are the son and daughter-in-law of our friends Jeri and Stach. Tony and Gina are great hosts and we had a delicious dinner and a fun afternoon/evening. Sunday was baseball day and we watched Coach Tony and Gina's son, Trent, play baseball. It wasn't the teams best day. I think they had too much swimming at Coach Tony's house on Saturday (instead of batting practice)! There will be another game on Wednesday!
Yesterday we had our friends Jim and Della Crownover to dinner at our house and of course we had to play a few games! Jim and I took Ted and Della's pennies at Pokeno and I was the big Tripoly winner! It was a very fun day and dinner came out good (whew)!

Happy Tax Day!
That is for my friends who are tax accountants! I worked for a C.P.A. firm for 18 years and I certainly don't miss the long hard hours of tax season! My friend Pat is still doing it and she is 75 years old and loves it! My friend Bill needs to retire! I don't think he loves it!
Our friends John and Ramola that we met in Texas arrived here yesterday afternoon. We went to Filippi's Pizza Grotto for dinner to catch up and have plans to see them again this afternoon. They are passing through on their way to Portland, Oregon where they will spend a couple of months. It is great seeing them again.
Taxes done and waiting for refunds..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Vollyball & Baseball
On Sunday we met our friends Jeri and Stach to go to their grandaughter's vollyball game. Mallorie is the grandaughter that was also in the play! It was a huge vollyball tournament and Mallorie had a lot of fun but her team didn't do too well. Mallorie has gotten a lot better since we first saw her play and it was fun watching her play. After the match we went to dinner at the Mexican restaurant at Montgomery Field. There was a lot of plane activity because it was such a pretty day.
Yesterday we met our friends Jeri and Stach to go to their grandson's baseball game! Trent's team won and it was a really good game. There was a lot of good defense by both teams and some good batting. The only problem was that a couple of the pitchers had problems with hitting the batters. The game was finally called because of darkness and his team was ahead 9 to 7. We had dinner at the Souplantation. It was pretty cold at the field so the soup was especially good! They were testing a vanilla flan dessert that was delicious with a burnt sugar topping!
Today just relaxing and catching up on the blog..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Visiting friends!
Last night we went to Jeri and Stach's granddaughter's school play. She goes to Horizon High School and they put on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. They had a little problem with the microphone sound system in the first half but the play was enjoyable. Mallorie was one of the townsfolk and she had a good time!
Today we visited our friend Sally Black, her sister Jan and David Prime. Sally just bought a new house in Rainbow. She has a nice house, some land for her horses and garden and some fruit trees. We all went in to Fallbrook and had a nice lunch. It was an enjoyable afternoon!

Raining in Jamul!
We made it back to Jamul on Tuesday in time for me to go to Girls Night Out! It was fun catching up with the ladies. On Wednesday we went shopping for a suit for Ted to wear to the wedding. We found a nice suit, shirt, tie and shoes...he looks great! After we had dinner with our friends Jeri and Stach and then watched Survivor with them! Yesterday Ted had lunch with his friend David Prime.
On the way down we stopped at the RV service place to get them working on an estimate of repairs for the insurance company. I think we also need to buy one more tire for the truck while we are here.
We barely have internet here when we use our booster, just very slow, but at least we have it! I haven't tried to use the cell phone yet on the booster but without it there is "no service". We will be here until April 26th.
Chilly and rainy in Jamul but happy to be back in San Diego visiting friends..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Casino Time!
Yesterday we drove over to the Soboba Casino. Ted's luck continued (yay)! He put $5 in a machine and cashed out a ticket for over $80! We only stayed a couple of hours but were ahead when we walked out the door! Then all the gambling money went in the truck fuel tank paying $4.39 for diesel - YUCK! The cost of fuel is terrible!
This morning when I walked Max I took a few pictures at the campground entrance and was curious about the Cherry Valley history.
The community of 17 square miles is home to approximately 7,000 residents and has an annual festival. The Cherry Valley Festival had its origin in 1914. During 1930, the first Cherry Valley Festival Queen was crowned. The U-Pick Cherry System, where people pick their own cherries, started in 1941 during WWII when fuel shortages made fruit transportation uneconomical. After the war, the U-Pick System of "U-Pick Your Own Cherries" continued as a tradition. A non-profit organization called the Cherry Festival Association was formed and legally chartered in 1952. It incepted an annual program of a carnival, concession stands and an Art and Horse Show.
When I looked on line, the cherry festival was to have been this past weekend but was cancelled and rescheduled for September. Maybe we will check it out if we are around!
Tomorrow we will head down to Pio Pico in Jamul. We will stop by South Coast RV for an estimate on the tire damage. We never know if we will be on the north side for a couple of days or will be able to get right in the south side of the campground. We won't have any internet/cell at all until we get moved to the south side.
A sunny but cool day at Cherry Valley..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Bingo Winners!
On Thursday night Ted and I played bingo at the park and we did very well! We each won 2 games which payed for bingo and won an extra $27! It's fun to play but even more fun to win!
Yesterday we drove up to Idlywild. We have a Thousand Trails campground up there and decided to check it out. The campground is over 6400' and a pretty, but winding drive to get up there. A little under 6,000' we started seeing some melting leftover snow on the ground. Unfortunately, we won't be able to use the campground because the road doesn't recommend the larger trailers but it was a pretty drive. The temperature was 70 degrees at the top, much cooler than the 92 degrees in Hemet and Beaumont!
Enjoying 70 degrees with snow..."Ain't Life Grand!"
