Back to Jamul!

On Tuesday we got back to Jamul, at the Pio Pico campground.   We finished our week at Cherry Valley playing Pokeno and a game called Fastrack that we had not played before.  Both were fun games and we enjoyed meeting some new people!

Unfortunately both Ted and I came down with colds and Ted's got a pretty good cough going along with laryngitis.  He seems to feel a little better than he sounds, which is terrible!  My cold is doing much better!

We will be here a couple of weeks until we head north to eventually go to the Valley with the name that is not to be mentioned!  We can't mention it because every time we try to go there we have some sort of problem.  Last year we broke down between Las Vegas and Pahrump and never did make it to camp there!

Rain and snow days!

Friday night was another dinner at the campground.  This time it was a buffet.  Everything was delicious and we met a really nice couple from Quebec, Canada.  Lucie and Bernardin started a five month journey in January.  They have lots of places they want to visit around the country.  They were down in San Diego before coming up to Cherry Valley and they loved San Diego.

On Saturday Ted was craving Mexican food so we went to a restaurant recommended by a few people around here.  I enjoyed my tostado but Ted didn't care for his tacos.  In the afternoon Lucie and Bernardin came by for a glass of wine.  Lucie speaks English very well and so it is easy to communicate with them.

It has been raining off and on the last few days and pretty cold.  In the 40's to 50's in the day and 30's at night.  Last night when I let Max out before bed, the rain was slushy!  It melted as soon as it hit the ground but it looked like it was snowing!  This morning there was a lot of snow up on Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead.

The mountains were quite beautiful!

Back in Cherry Valley

Ted and I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day!   On Valentine's Day Jim and Della Crownover (red lip-Ted's high school friends) came over to our RV for some games and dinner.  We played Mexican Train dominoes and Tripoly, a game from our "kid" days!  Both games were fun.  Ted won dominoes and Jim and Della came out with more pennies in Tripoly!  Dinner came out well and it was a fun day!

On Tuesday we headed north about 3 hours to Cherry Valley, next to Beaumont.  We arrived in the afternoon so were able to play bingo Tuesday night.  Ted was a big winner - two bingos, payed for our play plus a little extra!

On Wednesday we headed to Cathedral City to Fantasy Springs Casino (FSC).  There are a few closer but we usually do better th FSC.  I started off well and had a $47.50 ticket which I lost!  Don't know how it happened but it was gone!  I had bad luck :( the rest of the day and we headed for home in the afternoon.

Thursday was golf day.  It had been over a year since Ted and I had played so we were pretty rusty.  We played nine holes at a beautfiul but difficult course.  I had a great handicap playing on the beginner tees and didn't have to hit over as many gully's or areas of dense brush.  It was really good to get out and play and we hope to play again soon!

Ted at work!  The heavy, cold rain we had Wednesday night brought lots of snow in the nearby Mountains of  Baldy and Big Bear as you can see in the picture!

There were lots of bunny rabbits, squirrels and gophers on the course!

We got home from golf in time to enjoy beef stew dinner night at the campground and another round of bingo!  This time I won 1 game and Ted again won 2 games!  We played for free again plus made a few bucks!  It's fun to play but a lot more fun to win!

A fun week (so far) in Cherry Valley..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Strolling Old Town Temecula

We've been keeping busy since Thursday.  I took my friend Jeri for a "shopping fix" on Friday.  She's doing so well with her hip.  We walked around UTC, resting now and then and doing a bit of window shopping.  We had lunch and coffee and  she was ready to go home!  She did great and is feeling so much better.

Yesterday Ted and I did some shopping and found a dress for me to wear to the May 28th wedding of our nephew in San Francisco.  We had dinner with our friend Peggy at the Savanah Grill in Rancho San Diego.  It was the second time we ate there, it was packed but must have had problems in the kitchen because it took a long time for our dinner.   We each had barbeque rib special for $10.00 and they were delicious!

Today we met our friends David Prime and Sally Black in Old Town Temecula.  We had a good lunch and then strolled around the shops.  It was a very relaxing day and the weather couldn't have been nicer.  Around 4:00 it started getting cold so we headed for home!

It was great catching up with Sally and David today and enjoying the sunshine..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Loving the San Diego weather!

We've sure been enjoying San Diego weather but are still looking forward to doing some more traveling!

Peggy came over to watch the Super Bowl with us.  It was a good game and some funny commercials!  Peggy made chili, I made corn bread, some appetizers and Peggy made a great banana cream pie!  As you can tell we didn't go hungry!  Of course we never do!

We visited Jeri and Stach AT HOME on Monday.  She's doing so well.  We are going to have an outing on Friday together to do some lite shopping and some lunch!

Our friends Steve and Kathie had never been to our RV so we invited them for lunch yesterday.  Steve used to parachute at the airport about three miles west of us so they knew right where we were.  Steve reminisced about some of his jumps, one in particular that didn't go so well but he managed to not hurt himself!  I took these pictures of them yesterday:

This week in San Diego

Girls Night Out was a big success!  It was fun getting together with the ladies and as always, lots of laughs!  We celebrated Peggy's February birthday, had good eats and good drinks!

On Wednesday we visited Jeri at rehab.  She's still fighting her infection but will get to go home on Friday.  She's excited to get home.

Thursday night was dinner with Larry and Carol and Steve and Kathe.  Ted, Larry and Steve have known each other since elementary school!  Larry, Steve, Ted and a couple of other guys started a petition to get a swim team at Sweetwater High and were successful in their senior year. They had been swiming on the city team together for many years.   It was nice to find out what they have been up to!

Last night we had dinner with our friends Bill and Jany.  I worked with Bill for 18 years at the C.P.A. firm.  He's in tax season and working hard!

Today will be a day to catch up at home..."Ain't Life Grand!"

Yummy San Diego barbeque!

We've been enjoying hanging out in San Diego.  Running errands and getting things done!  We've visited Jeri at the rehab center a couple of times.  Unfortunately she got an infection in her incision (hip surgery) and they are working on clearing that up as well as strength training and walking!  She's going up and down steps and getting stronger every day.  Luckily she's young and healing well!

We had lunch/dinner with our red lip friends Della and Jim Crownover on Sunday.  While they were on the road in Texas they watched the food channel.  The host was in San Diego and went to Phil's Barbeque near the Sports Arena!  Sunday was not a good day to go there, the line went around the building!  After waiting an hour, we were really hungry and boy did we get full and it was great!  I had the quarter baby back ribs (about 4 ribs).  It came with some sides, I had the beans (yummy) and slaw (also yummy)!  Ted had barbequed chicken riblets and he said they were delicious!  On the show they tried the tri-tip beef and said it was wonderful!  We tried it and they used some spice in the cooking of the beef or in the sauce and it was pretty "hot"!   We went back to their house and started a game of Mexican Train Dominoes!  It was fun and we are half way through so will pick it up next time we are together!

Ted is off taking in the hitch to have some welds put on to reinforce it and to visit his friend Pete so I'm doing laundry and blogging and catching up on email.  Tonight is girls night out.  I haven't been for awhile so it will be fun to see the ladies!  We always have a lot of laughs so it is very good for us!  The margaritas aren't bad either!!!!
